Planter boxes in corten steel or galvanized steel

Create a unique outdoor space with planters in corten steel or galvanized steel

Welcome to our versatile range of durable planters in corten and galvanized steel, designed and manufactured in Denmark. Our planters in 2 and 3 mm steel guarantee strong quality and a lifespan of over 20 years, perfect for both private and public spaces. The main difference between raised beds and planters is based on the presence of a bottom plate, the way they are modularized and the design will be the same.

Raised beds are traditionally without a bottom plate, they are designed to be placed directly on the soil. This makes them ideal for extensive gardening where the roots of the plants can grow freely into the soil beneath the bed, allowing better access to nutrients and water.

Planter boxes have the option of adding a bottom plate, which offers great flexibility. A bottom plate makes the planter suitable for use on terraces, balconies and other hard surfaces where direct contact with the soil is not possible or desired.

Adding a bottom plate

For extra functionality and protection, you can choose to add a base plate to your planter box. This is especially recommended for solid surfaces such as tiles or similar. The bottom plate is always made of 3 mm galvanized steel with drainage holes to ensure optimal drainage and protect your substrate from moisture and soil.

Does corten steel damage plants?

You can grow and plant all kinds of vegetables and plants in this planter. Steel is a natural material and will not release toxic substances to your vegetables. If you are still in doubt, we recommend lining the box with a plastic sheet, polystyrene, insulation mat or similar. This will also insulate the soil from the sides of the box and extend its lifespan.

Corten steel is generally not harmful to plants as it is a corrosion-resistant material that does not release harmful chemicals or metals. However, it may be important to check the PH of the soil and add soil conditioners if necessary, as corten steel can tend to lower the PH of the soil.

It's also important to ensure good drainage in planters and raised beds, as Corten steel can rust if it is persistently wet.

It's also recommended to prune plants regularly and provide good ventilation in planters and raised beds so that plants don't suffocate from excess moisture.

Does galvanized steel damage plants?

You can grow and plant all kinds of vegetables and plants in this planter. Galvanized steel is generally not harmful to plants as it is a corrosion-resistant material that does not release harmful chemicals or metals. Zinc, which is used in galvanization, can be harmful to plants in high concentrations, but in the small amounts present in galvanized steel, it is unlikely to have a harmful effect. If you are still in doubt, we recommend lining the box with a plastic sheet, polystyrene, insulation mat or similar. This will also insulate the soil from the sides of the box and extend its lifespan.

However, it's important to check the PH of the soil and add soil-improving materials if necessary, as galvanized steel can tend to lower the PH of the soil.
