Does steel damage plants?

Galvanized steel is generally not harmful to plants as it is a corrosion-resistant material that does not release harmful chemicals or metals. Zinc, which is used in galvanization, can be harmful to plants in high concentrations, but in the small amounts present in galvanized steel, it is unlikely to have a harmful effect. If you are still in doubt, we recommend lining the box with a plastic sheet, polystyrene, insulation mat or similar. This will also insulate the soil from the sides of the box and extend its lifespan.
However, it is important to check the PH of the soil and add soil-improving materials if necessary, as galvanized steel can tend to lower the PH of the soil.
