Patination starts naturally when the steel is exposed to moisture and oxygen. In the beginning, the colour may vary, but over time it stabilises into an even, warm rust tone.

Does corten steel stain paving or surfaces?
During the early patination phase, some runoff may occur. We therefore recommend placement on soil, gravel or with sufficient distance from sensitive surfaces.

Should I choose a planter with or without a base?
