What Is Raw Steel?

• Raw steel is untreated and has a natural, raw texture.
  
• It can develop a unique patina over time, making each tabletop truly one of a kind.
  
• Please note that raw steel is susceptible to scratches, stains, and rust if not properly maintained.

Treating a New Tabletop

• Wipe the tabletop thoroughly with a soft cloth and warm water to remove dust and residue from production.
• Apply a thin layer of beeswax or oil specifically made for steel (e.g. mineral oil). This creates a protective barrier against moisture and stains.
• Repeat the sealing process once a month – more frequently if the surface is used intensively.

Daily Maintenance

• Use a soft cloth or sponge with warm water and mild soap.
• Avoid abrasive cleaners or rough sponges, as they can scratch the surface.
• Wipe up spills immediately, especially acids such as lemon juice, vinegar, and wine, to prevent discoloration or rust.
• Always dry the tabletop after cleaning to avoid standing water on the surface.

Care and Refreshing

• Apply a new layer of beeswax or oil every month or as needed – especially if the surface appears dry or matte.
• Minor scratches can be polished away using very fine steel wool or sandpaper (grit 1000 or higher).
• Always polish in the same direction as the steel’s grain, if visible.
• Remember to apply wax or oil afterwards to protect the polished area.

What to Avoid

• Aggressive cleaning agents (e.g. bleach or acid)
• Standing liquids on the surface – especially for extended periods
• Cutting directly on the steel surface – always use a cutting board

Tips for Long-Lasting Durability

• Protect against scratches and hot objects.
• Although steel tolerates heat, extremely hot pots or pans can leave marks – always use trivets.
• Deep scratches or rust spots may require professional treatment such as sandblasting or polishing.
• Whenever possible, use environmentally friendly, fragrance-free, and chemical-free products.
