Corten steel:
Corten steel naturally develops a rust-coloured patina when exposed to moisture and air. On delivery, the surface may be dark and may not yet have developed its characteristic rust colour.

The colour gradually changes to warm shades of brown, orange and rust red. Variations in colour and texture are a natural characteristic of the material and depend on weather conditions and placement.

Under the right conditions, the patina forms a protective layer that limits further corrosion. The surface therefore requires neither painting nor sanding.

✔ Gently remove dirt with a soft brush or cloth
✔ Avoid prolonged damp conditions and standing water around the steel
✔ Protect delicate surfaces from rust staining and rusty runoff
✔ Store the snowmen in a dry place out of season, and allow them to dry before putting them away

Rust staining may occur, particularly while the patina is developing. Take care when placing the snowmen on light-coloured paving, wood and other delicate surfaces. Always protect the surface beneath them when using them indoors.
