Corten steel star – a large Christmas decoration for a festive atmosphere
A large Christmas star in 3 mm corten steel, made at our own factory in Denmark. The star has a simple, open design and measures 180 × 190 cm.
Lean it against the house wall by the entrance or on the patio, and wrap a string of lights around the steel. The open centre leaves the facade visible while the lights follow the shape of the star. You can also hang it up.
The corten steel develops a rust colour over time. The surface changes with the weather, developing the natural colour variations that characterise the material.
The star cannot stand on its own. It must be placed against a wall or another stable surface and secured to prevent it from tipping over. It can also be hung using suitable fixings. Be aware that rust staining may occur during the first season.

Corten steel:
Corten steel develops a distinctive rust patina over time. Exposure to moisture and air gradually gives the surface natural colour variations in warm, reddish-brown shades.
The process depends on the location and weather. A star placed under an overhang may therefore develop its patina more slowly and differently from one that is more exposed to rain.
Rust staining:
As the patina develops, rusty runoff can stain paving, wood and facades. Choose the location carefully, especially near light-coloured or delicate surfaces.

✔ Clean with water and a soft cloth when needed
✔ Avoid placing the star where water collects around the steel
✔ Check regularly that the star is standing or hanging securely
The star’s open design allows the background to show through, making it easy to incorporate into different outdoor spaces. Against a light-coloured facade, the steel’s rust colour stands out, while timber cladding and red brick create a warmer, more understated look.

A warm white string of lights can be wrapped around the steel strips to follow the star’s outline. Leave the centre open for a simple look that keeps both the shape and the material visible.

💡 Choose string lights rated for outdoor use. The lights are purchased separately, so you can choose the light colour and spacing between the bulbs.
